Contractor Varangians has its origins in a special and human story. Years ago, the founder came to the Netherlands with his family as asylum seekers. In Goes, they slowly built a new existence. The children went to school, made friends and the family became increasingly rooted in the Zeeland community.
When the asylum seekers' centre in Goes closed unexpectedly, the family was told they had to move to an asylum seekers' centre in Zwolle. This came as a big shock. It would mean leaving behind their accumulated life, social contacts and familiar surroundings.
What happened then made a deep impression. Friends and concerned residents of Goes took action to help the family. Thanks to their commitment, the family was able to stay in Goes and continue building their future. That support and commitment formed the basis for what would later become Aannemer Varangians.
Out of gratitude, perseverance and a desire to give something back to society, a year and a half later, he started his own handyman and contractor business. What started in a small flat grew into a thriving business built on craftsmanship, trust and appreciation for the community that made it possible.
